Carlyle at Chelsea,
Scottish historian of the 1800's
Studying the Archaeological Record
Archaeology is more than digging in the ground and the excitement of the find. Anyone who has been around the field knows that hard study, correlation, and keeping accurate records is the key to making new discoveries. A slang term that has grown up in Florida Archaeology for the various reports of record which must be issued for each site investigated is the "Gray Files".

Gone are the days where studying the archaeological record is as relaxing and simple as this image of 1800's Scottish historian Carlyle with his cat. Just managing all the photos, artifacts, maps, and reports from a site can be a daunting activity; and one must be able to effectively access and draw on past work to make meaningful discoveries in the future.

As the full support Archaeological and Historical Conservancy which our mission commands us to be, we have taken on associations which allow us to deal with the huge amounts of information in a uniquely effective manner, by working with Mnemotrix Systems, Inc., who is vastly experienced in custom information needs. We can use our experience in this regard to help you with similarly daunting information systems projects.

If you are interested in what we do that is different, we can arrange a private demonstration of our Gray Files Intelligent Search approach.
